This is a 1/72 Plastic Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat US Navy Fighter from Academy Plastics. It's for ages 10 and up. When the Japanese attacked the United States in 1941, the most modern fighter in the Navy was the Grumman F4F Wildcat. Although the Wildcat was small, it was not as fast or maneuverable as the Japanese Zero Fighter, but it was a very durable machine. However, in the hands of an experienced pilot, the Wildcat could best the feared Zero. Thankfully, the Grumman fighter was able to fend off the enemy until the more powerful Hellcat was available about one year later.

The TBF-1 Avenger was available in sufficient numbers to be present for the outbreak of WWII despite the fact that it only made its first flight on 1 August 1941. The Avenger was especially popular because it could carry a full size submarine torpedo. This requires a weapons bay capable of carrying up to 2,000 pounds of bombs or other weapons. The Avenger also carried more defensive armament than many craft. The Avenger remained in use both during and after World War II.

This is a 1/72 Plastic Curtiss P-40B Tomahawk Model Kit from Academy Plastics. It's for ages 10 and up. One of the most familiar aircraft of the Second World War was the famous Curtiss P-40. Originally flown in 1938, the first P-40 was actually a modified P-36 using an inline Allison V12 engine instead of the P-36's bulky radial type. This modification gave the US Army a craft that could compete with a Hurricane or a Messerschmitt. These were the planes that would become known as the British Flying Tigers.

This is a 1/72 Plastic F4U-1 Corsair Model Kit from Academy Plastics. It's for ages 10 and up. The F4U was designed in 1938 to meet the U.S. Navy's need for a high-speed carrier-based fighter. The governing principle behind the design of this plane was to place the largest possible engine in the smallest frame. This changed the possible landing gear configurations and ultimately resulted in the introduction of the inverted gullwing. While the plane proved to be unsuitable for carrier operation, it was used extensively in a land-based role.
