"Not worth the money or time"

This kit has alot of problems. First the detail is not the greatest but is ok. The pieces do not fit together well and requires alot of shaving and sanding. I had to do a little extra cutting nto make the back stabilizers fit into place. I would not recomend this product but would say if you want a good A-4 for the money I would go with the Hasegawa kit.

"Paints don't measure up but kit does, sorta."

I modified the WWll version of the Intrepid to reflect how she looked during Vietnam when my father-in-law served aboard her. The A-4s were her go-to aircraft at the time. This Airfix kit represents one of them from 1966. I decided to make this for him, as well. The kit has a few delicate parts (slats, tailhook, etc.) so you must be sure to take care with them when you handle and install them. Test-fitting is a must as some parts will need sanding to fit properly. The decals are almost all mis-numbered in the instructions and supplemental decal instructions so you will need to use the box art and internet sources for proper placement. I happened to know the aircraft well (it is on display at the Intrepid museum just a few miles from me) so that was not an issue for me but most modelers will need outside reference sources. The jet intake decals do not line up well. I did not realize this until I had applied setting solution so there wasn't much I could do shot of making my own. Since I was pressed for time, I made due with the ones supplied. If I were to build another one, I would create my own in Photoshop. Also, I would not recommend using the supplied paints with this kit. You will need to really thin them and mix them to use with an airbrush and using a brush is next to impossible. The acrylic paints in a few of the plastic pots in my kit had dried up. I simply bought the enamel versions of the paint to use. If you are not a stickler for all the details, the kit makes a decent version of the A-4.

"Best A-4B"

This is a great kit for anyone who is looking to build a A-4B in this scale. Much Much better than the original Skyhawk manufactured by Airfix. I highly recommend it.
