"Great kit for unusual subject"
rovert815
The Defiant was a strange aircraft designed to fill a very specific role. As is usual for Airfix's modern moldings, the kit is a delight to build. Nice fine detailing, a fairly detailed cockpit, and options for landing gear, canopy, turret, tail, and fuselage fairing positioning. The decals are standard for Airfix, with limited but detailed options. The kit goes together well with no major fit issues aside from the fuselage-wingtop join. If you want an odd plane in your display, Id recommend this one for an easy but enjoyable build.

"good but simple"
pamason (Entiat, WA)
This plane is a easy bulid bus has some hard parts. Most of the parts fit well but a little work is needed for the turent to move free. The cockpit has little detale and there is no pilot or gunner but this is not bad as the cockpit canopy is closed with little work the landing gear can be showen up or down. The decales are good but care must use in placeing. the paint chart is good as is the inst sheet a plane that was good on paper but not so good in realty. A good plane for all.

"An excellent little kit"
Grayhawk (Fallon, NV)
A excellent model with nice detail. My only negative, and it's a small one, is there is one distinct difference between the 48th and the 72nd. In the 48th there is a open as well as a closed turret canopy. This makes a vac canopy necessary to place the aircraft in its most common and casual mode on the ground. Other than that its a really nice model.

"Nice kit"

Overall a nice kit. No problems with fit, very little seam work. My kit had a pilot and gunner figures, and I included them. The detail is adequate for this scale. As for the cons, I found that the flat turtle deck option behind the turret was much too small so I had to use the rounded option. The decals are a bit thick, which may be a plus for a new or younger modeler. The turret is a bit hard to mask for painting, not a fault with the kit, just the nature of the subject. Some of the parts (ie pitot tube) are hard to remove from the sprue due to the thick attachment points. In summary, it's a nice kit for a weekend build, good options with the camo and night fighter configurations.
