One of the most prestigious air races of its day, the MacRobertson England to Australia air race of 1934 was contested by three DH.88 Comet aircraft, with 'Black Magic' G-ACSP being the first to take off. Unfortunately engine problems curtailed its involvement while its sister machine 'Grosvenor House' won the race. G-ACSR also suffered reliability issues during the race, but its high speed still enabled it to finish in fourth position.
The scale causes this kit to assemble like a resin kit- thick parts throughout, no pins, bad fits, wing roots don't match the wing shape, fuselage sides are noticeably different. I don't believe the wing tips are correct. Maybe for the price it's ok- but Airfix needs to go back to fix this one. I really wanted this kit to be good, but it took more filler than an Airfix 1/24 Spitfire mod 22/24!!
