Airfix have outdone themselves on this kit. On top of great detail on interior, exterior, and wheel wells, it allows for several options. You can position all control surfaces, you can build it with wheels up or down, canopy open or closed, and with wings folded or open without modifying any parts. Everything is designed to avoid needing scratchbuilding or modifying for different configurations. The decals are also great with options for pre and post May 1942 markings.
No part of the kit was poorly designed, and almost no major fit issues were found.
Overall, I would highly recommend the kit for anyone with even a little experience in kit building.
I got this a few weeks ago, I wanted to put it together with the hellcat. The model is simply beautyfull! landing gear is tricky to build, but looks like the real one. The wings can be assembled either folded or unfolded. Lots of details, perfect cockpit, simply astonishing. you can see the lower fuselage windows, engine is well molded, I hope to finish it soon so that I can post pics to show you. Just hope that Airfix may release soon an f3-f2 version, without the folding mechanism, I'm looking forward to build one shiny metal and yellow version!
"What a superb model"
Everything about this kit is excellent. It comes with tons of options: canopy open or closed, landing gear up or down, wings folded or extended, etc. The fit is perfect, the mold lines were nearly invisible, and the construction is foolproof. The decals are of very good quality and ridiculous detail. Some of them require a magnifying glass to read, yet they all apply easily and don't leave much silvering. You also get two options, one for a Marines plane on Guadalcanal, and the other from the Big 'E' (enterprise for the layman). The only advice I would give is not to dry fit the fuselage halves together with the cockpit inside before gluing them. My cockpit got stuck inside, and I had to pry the halves apart. Other than that, it's an excellent model. I would recommend it to all skill levels. Even the greenest of beginner can easily build this kit and make it look great, and the expert will appreciate its fine detail and excellent quality.

Really nice kit. Lots of options, wheels up or down and wings folded or not. Everything fits well with minimal adjustment. Be sure to dry fit fuselage halves before gluing. If you do landing gear down the landing gear parts can be a bit of a challenge to get exactly aligned.
