"New Airfix Spitfire MK XII"

Typical of the new Airfix kits, this model is made of new molds. It has great detail that could only be enhanced by photo etch pieces. Photo etc is not really necessary with this kit. Panel lines are slightly out of scale, but will look great under a coat of paint. Fit, as to be expected with a new kit is very good with no filler really needed and careful gluing at the wing root-fuselage join is excellent. Wonderful kit of a long over looked mark. Only 100 of the 15,800 Spitfires built were Mk XII's. Highly recommended

"Nicely done kit, but a few quirks."
todd_w14
This is a very well done kit. The fit and shape of the parts appears to be correct from my perspective. The pieces are molded in a light blue but they do appear to be too thick especially in the leading edges of the wings. The panel lines are engraved and are deeper than most kits. This is good and bad because it gives better definition when applying a wash but maybe out of scale. The decals are excellent and went on great after applying setting solution. Overall this is a very nice kit and if PE sets are released they can make it that much better.
