Ellington Mercantile Kit

Even thought this AMB laserkit looks great on my layout, I have deducted one star due to some problems with the kit. The front trim and left front door run clear to the structure's base. If you want the porch to fit against the building, you need to cut the bottoms off the trim. This can't be done with the left door, so it will be necessary to file a depression in the porch applique to accommodate the door thereby shortening it 1/16 or 10 scale inches. Additionally, the lip of the porch is 3/16 from the ground surface. That's 30 in N Scale and that's way to big a step. You will need to either counter-sink the base of the structure or build your own set of steps (see gallery pictures). I also recommend that you disregard the instructions to assemble the walls and then place the doors and windows in their recesses. This is much easier to do with the walls laying flat on your work bench (with the exception of the recessed double doors).
