Because every crime-fighter needs, you know, a customized fighter jet.

AMT recently re-released the 1989 Batmobile and Batwing, and I was pleasantly surprised to realize both kits are in the same scale. The Batwing is a quick and simple build - I could probably assemble it without the instructions over one day. You have the option to build the craft with the landing gear up or down, which is nice. If you are skilled with wiring, you can put real lights in the wing tips, a distinctive feature of the screen model. One note I'd pass on... I noticed that although the kit is molded in black and the Batwing appears to be gloss black in the movie, the instructions actually tell you to paint the whole thing flat dark gray. I painted three smaller panels this color before I caught this error and now have to double back to correct. Also... this isn't really a criticism of the kit, but when you see Batman (included as the pilot) next to the Batwing and Batmobile, you realize this plane is ridiculously small. When I saw the completed version, and I couldn't help think, well, it looked pretty silly. Some mystery is lost when you take the model down from the screen.
