Prepare to paint alot!

I never owned or built this model back in the day, so I was thrilled to find this reissue deeply discounted at a store. This is a great looking model, and most pieces fit together well, though some sanding and adjusting may be needed depending on your desire. Keep in mind, every inch of this fine model will need to be painted! And even though the gorgeous box art is a painting, it still is a great guide to point you in the right direction. I personally painted everything with flat acrylic paints, except for the boots and Spock's purse which got gloss black enamel. All acrylic painted surfaces should be spray coated with Testors dullcoat afterwards. I added artificial sprinkle on green grass to sections around the rocks for added effect. Fun model indeed!

Boldly Go!

You get just what the box says, Star Trek's most popular character! This model is a lot of fun to construct and the alien base allows for plenty of creativity as Spock encounters a strange, new reptilian life-form with his tools of the trade, tricorder and phaser!

Be Logical Spock, Stun It, Don't Kill It

I watched Star Trek TOS when I was in my mid-teens during its original run on TV. Mr. Spock was my favorite character and I actually tried to emulate him. I guess the kit was originally an Aurora kit released in 1972 three years after the show had ended its original run but was already in reruns. I actually remember in 1971 going away to FTU and the TV room would fill up in the dorms when the show was on. I was not doing plastic modeling at that time so I missed it being available. When I got back into plastic modeling about 10 years ago I saw the kit and purchased it. While the scene really has nothing to do with any episode it was still a good scene and a nice alien background. The kit is well molded and fit together nicely. I have won a couple of awards with it at contests and am very pleased with it. I just bought a second kit from HobbyLinc and with a resin Kirk head will convert it into Kirk to go with Spock. I recommend it to any Trek fan or model builder who enjoys such subjects.
