"Excellent Kit"
This is an excellent kit. The detail and parts fit are great. This kit is not for the beginner, there are a few minor things where care should be taken. The cab comes in a couple of pieces and alignment was very good but a little tricky. Parts had very little flash so clean up was a snap. Engine details were good and after I added some photo etched upgrades they became excellent and very realistic. The instruction sheet is some what confusing so read twice and fit your parts before gluing will help. The frame and suspension parts are quite detailed and very accurate. I painted it with Model Master's dark blue with a tan interior. It looks great on my shelf. I plan on mating it with a box trailer. I would recommend this kit for modelers with a little experience.

"First kit in 40+ years!"
Tex Jester
As a long haul trucker who likes old trucks, this was a blast to build and attempt to detail. Ok, it's not as well done as others who do these regularly, but I had fun! I was laid up for a few months with a shattered knee, and needed SOMETHING to do! If you intend to do any detailing in the sleeper, don't install the front sleeper curtain - you'll never see the sleeper again... The front wheels don't line up quite right - they wobble and the stance is too wide. As a newbie to modeling, I'm not quite sure how to correct that. Some of the instructions aren't very clear - I realized later that I had installed some rear suspension parts and the cab steps backwards, as well as the fuel tanks on the wrong sides (caps should go to the back). But I had fun doing this, and I learned a lot. I am now working on the Autocar, and am going to attempt a wax job on it, as well as some customization!

"An old but good kit"
If you're into 70s trucks this is one of the ones you'll want to pick up. The kit itself shows some age as it is a reissue kit. One drawback to the kit is that the rear half of the cab needs to be joined to the front half and would require work to cover up the joint as it goes through the middle of the cab. Otherwise the AMT trucks altogether are real cool, and look especially good if you've got some modelling skills

"Working on it right now."
I'm in the middle of building this model. I just adore how detailed this model is and the color scheme that I'm using, is heavily inspired by the Trasformers generation 1 Optimus Prime toy (1984), which was modeled after this Freightliner. As other have mentioned in their reviews, this model is not for the inexperienced builders, but even experienced model builders might find it sometimes difficult. The only problem that I have with this model is the instruction sheet. The parts are not numbered and you spend a lot of time trying to figure out what parts one needs to use. AMT put a lot of effort in manufacturing this kit and I think that they could've spend a little bit more time in numbering the parts. But despite this little hitch, this model is highly recommended to all.

Due to small parts that could cause a choking hazard please keep away from children 3 years of age and younger.
