"The phantom"

Nice kit. Will have some clean up. The glow parts have more flash. I figure they used the old molds for the glow parts. Funny thing, i was flipping through a new channel i found on roku. Came across a re mastered version of the 1925 original movie. The same day i opened the model. They colored the scenes. Not each item in the shot but the whole shot. I mean a whole scene may be colored in a blue hue, a green hue, a yellow, purple, and other colors. It actually added to the drama. I did a previous model in gray scale may watch the movie again and see about doing this one in the color scale that the models pose is in. Fast shipping using the cheaper shipping, of course i may be in the perfect spot as the kits come from GA then go to Louisvlle Ky, then to our little post office. Also thought i may use more of a transparent paint on some of the glow pieces to give them a backlit glow look. Not sure yet. Really want to do it as in the movie.

"A Re-pop of the Classic Aurora Phantom Kit"
rkoenn (Brandon, FL)
It is great that Atlantis is bringing back these classic Aurora kits and this is basically an identical re-pop. I fondly remember these kits from my youth and have managed to collect them. This one is a great kit and does a good job of capturing the classic Lon Chaney Phantom of the Opera from the silent 1920's movie. I highly recommend it if you like building models and are fond of those great Universal monster movies.

Greetings fellow modelers, I just completed Atlantis's ,The Prisoner Of Castle Mare, this was one of the most fun models I've ever built. I used mostly Abteilungs Oil Paints, model Master French Blue for the tattered shirt, Tamiyas Red Brown for the sash. The walls , I used Mr. Hobby's Mr. Surface 1500 Black Primer. Then, I applied a light coating of Testors dark Grey, followed with a wash of Abteilungs Raw Umber, thinned with AK's Acrylic Thinner. I wanted to do something no other modeler has done, at least to my knowledge. I made lichen from plaster rubble I had from a previous model, and applied this to the wall, at various areas, to depict the fungus growth. It looks pretty good, I think. I added a wash of Testors light Grey ,thinned, to create a realistic color. Remember ,this is a dark, dank, foreboding place, where the saving grace of light never shines to reach its hellish, stygian corners. Hence, The Forgotten Prisoner Of Castle Mare!!!
