I looked at a lot of reviews of various switches before buying these. I went with Atlas because I had not had problems with them in the past. Well, it turns out the negative reviews were correct. My main concern with switches in general is good electrical conductivity since my layout is small, so engines go slow over the same track often, and any bad spots would be a very big pain. Fortunately that is not a problem with these switches. (I speak in the plural because I bought several.) The main problem is that the switch point rails attach to the bar that causes them to move back and forth merely by friction, with a little tab stuck into a plastic pocket. In every switch I bought this failed, and the switch points fell out. This is noted in picture 1. I ended up super-gluing them in place, and this seems to be working. On one of the switches the other end of one of the switch points did not line up correctly with the frog, causing derailments (see picture 2). I fixed this with some filing and shoving into place, and now it works fine. Both these issues SHOULD NOT HAPPEN and indicate poor quality control at Atlas. So I guess I will be buying other brands of switches now.
