Features: * Pennsy's Home-built Hoppers in N Scale from Bowser. New $11.71 (16% off). * Pennsy's first all-steel hoppers were built in 1898 by Pressed Steel Car Co. but design flaws and production backlogs convinced Pennsy to construct their own improved version, the home-built GLa class. These hoppers became a PRR standard with over 30,000 built between 1904 and 1920. The cars lasted into the 1960s and a few remained in work train service into the 1980s. The GLa class was one of the most common coal hoppers in North America, so they'll look right at home on your steam- or early diesel-era layout. Ready-to-run GLa Hoppers from Bowser come equipped with AccuMate(R) knuckle couplers and feature a

Features: The N-5 was the world's first all-steel cabin car. New $12.72 (20% off). Produced in 1914 by Lines East, these cars were equipped with archbar, leaf-spring trucks and small tool boxes under their sides. While it was referred to as a center cupola, the N-5 cupola was actually 12-1/2" off center. It had a brake lever on each end of the platform instead of the brakewheel. Over the years some changes occurred: the top lights and tool boxes were removed, Ajax brakewheels replaced the brake levers, AB brakes replaced the K style brakes, coil-spring trucks were replaced by leaf-spring trucks, and new end sills, collision posts and new end railings were also added. The stove and chimney were

Features: No other freight car looked quite like these round-roof cars. New $11.71 (16% off). They were visible in freight yards all over America in the 1953-1960 era. These cars were first called "furniture cars," but soon found use in the automobile industry. The cars were equipped with Evans auto loader racks. The car started to disappear in the mid 1950s. A drastic drop in the early 1960s left cars that were still in service to be sold off or in most cases scrapped. Second owners kept them in service well into the 1970s.

Features: The PRR Class X-31 box cars had a novel roof design named the "round roof" or "wagon top." By curving the roof sheets to meet the eave bar vertically (leaving a 4" inset on the edge) the cars had an inside height of 10'. New $11.13 (20% off). The X-31's were used primarily to transport new automobiles or auto parts. The majority of X-31's were first built in January 1933. In 1935, the roof of the X-31 was redesigned with a new inside height of 10' 5" in the center and 10' at the sides. The external appearance changed with the roof sheets overlapping the side sheets at the eaves. This gave a flush appearance to the roof as compared to the inset of the original design. By 1936, the sing
