Trumpeter's M117 is a very detailed, fun kit of a modern armored security vehicle. Although there is no interior, the kit has lots of detail and nice features on the exterior, including photo etched brass for exhaust screens, tail light assemblies, suspension detail, wheel well armor applique and vision block sun visor. The builder also gets clear parts for headlights, tail lights, spotlight, armored glass for crew and vision blocks for turret. A chain is provided for the winch. The 50 cal machine gun and 40 mm grenade launcher barrels look the part to my eyes. Vinyl tires are nice, but need a bit of work with a sanding stick to clean up the seam. I thought the fit was good overall, but with some challenging assemblies - especially the PE wheel well appliques, suspension assemblies and tail light assemblies. The few decals went down easily and responded well to decal solution. There are markings and painting instructions for two vehicles - one three part Euro camo and one in desert camo. Instruction were adequate along with a color, two sided painting guide and decal placement sheet. Overall, I had a fun time building and painting this unique looking vehicle and would recommend to a more advanced builder looking to add an armored wheeled vehicle to their collection.
