This Defiant is very-well detailed, with a complete turret interior, excellent instrument panel and pilot's chair, and cockpit sidewall detail. My main gripe with this kit is actually that the canopy and turret can't be displayed open without finding vacuform replacements, so this stunning detail is lost on the low-tech version.
This is a limited-run kit, so there will be some challenges that could make this kit difficult for some modellers. Fit is mostly excellent (more like a mainstream kit than limited-run), but you'll need to shorten the rear decking a bit to fit the turret, especially if you want to leave it off until after you're done painting. The turret itself has some minor fit problems between the two halves, but nothing fatal. The kit has some other short-run quirks; you'll have to cut out the prominent landing lights on the front of the wings, and replace the clear plastic, since the included light covers won't fit properly, and the propeller comes in an unnecessary 6 parts.
Even though this is not the high-tech version (which comes with resin and vacform canopy), you still get a nice set of photo-etch brass parts for the radar antennas. Decals are nice and thing, and opaque enough to get the job done. They settle down nicely without setting solution. You get 3 marking options, and you can have your Defiant in any color you like, as long as it's Night (black): DZ+V from No.151 Squadron in mid-1941, ZJ+M from No.96 Squadron in June 1942, and AA370, the first airframe fitted with radar (this version has more colorful national markings).
Overall, a pretty good kit, but if you're looking for any easier build, wait until the Airfix Defiant, already released in the UK, crosses the pond.
