Great Model for the Price

This is an early(ish) Tamiya molding, 1982 to be exact. The part number is low, which is refreshing (not to have to craft those difficult Harrier landing gear). As with most Tamiya kits, there are many advantages. The engine and cockpit have nice pegs to help in setting that I don't often see in kits of this price range. Fuselage fits well, with some sanding and re-cutting panel lines. The panel line are raised, which makes it harder to add finishing touches (recessed panel lines are much easier). This is the earlier Harrier model, before McDonnell Douglas redesigned the larger wings with carbon fiber. There is limited cockpit detail, but I was able to really put some time into the pilot to make him look good with shading and lots of detail. My one big problem is the lack of intakes for the engine on each side. All Harriers show a lot of wear on these small intakes, and that provides the opportunity for authentic detailing. This model does not provide that. For the price range though, you can't go wrong getting a Tamiya model ay such a good discount. Happy modeling!
