Remove ties and cut 2 rail joiners--rails should meet in the center of the joiner--solder on the outside of rails only

When forced to lower the next piece of rail straight down, push the rail joiner all the way back on one set of rails

Place joining rails over the placed rails with joiners pushed all the way back and cut

Slide rail joiners to the center of the meeting rails and solder on the outside only. Replace removed ties by sliding under the rails and gluing in place.
