This is a 1/72 Plastic SPAD XIII WWI Fighter from Academy Plastics. It's for ages 10 and up. The French built SPAD XIII was one of the most famous fighters of World War I. The SPAD used a liquid-cooled inline engine when most aircraft were equipped with rotary engines. A powerful and efficient craft, the SPAD was used for many years. Armed with one or two Vickers 7.65 mm machine guns firing through the propeller arc or a deadly 37mm Hotchkiss cannon, the SPAD was widely feared.

This is a 1/72 Plastic Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat US Navy Fighter from Academy Plastics. It's for ages 10 and up. When the Japanese attacked the United States in 1941, the most modern fighter in the Navy was the Grumman F4F Wildcat. Although the Wildcat was small, it was not as fast or maneuverable as the Japanese Zero Fighter, but it was a very durable machine. However, in the hands of an experienced pilot, the Wildcat could best the feared Zero. Thankfully, the Grumman fighter was able to fend off the enemy until the more powerful Hellcat was available about one year later.

This is a 1/72 Plastic TBF-1 Avenger US Navy Torpedo Bomber from Academy Plastics. It's for ages 10 and up. The TBF-1 Avenger was available in sufficient numbers to be present for the outbreak of WWII despite the fact that it only made its first flight on 1 August 1941. The Avenger was especially popular because it could carry a full size submarine torpedo. This requires a weapons bay capable of carrying up to 2,000 pounds of bombs or other weapons. The Avenger also carried more defensive armament than many craft. The Avenger remained in use both during and after World War II.

This is a 1/72 Plastic Curtiss P-40B Tomahawk Model Kit from Academy Plastics. It's for ages 10 and up. One of the most familiar aircraft of the Second World War was the famous Curtiss P-40. Originally flown in 1938, the first P-40 was actually a modified P-36 using an inline Allison V12 engine instead of the P-36's bulky radial type. This modification gave the US Army a craft that could compete with a Hurricane or a Messerschmitt. These were the planes that would become known as the British Flying Tigers.

This is a 1/72 Plastic F4U-1 Corsair Model Kit from Academy Plastics. It's for ages 10 and up. The F4U was designed in 1938 to meet the U.S. Navy's need for a high-speed carrier-based fighter. The governing principle behind the design of this plane was to place the largest possible engine in the smallest frame. This changed the possible landing gear configurations and ultimately resulted in the introduction of the inverted gullwing. While the plane proved to be unsuitable for carrier operation, it was used extensively in a land-based role.

Hawker Typhoon 1B AircraftUser Upload PictureUser Upload PictureUser Upload PictureUser Upload PictureUser Upload Picture
This is a 1/72 Hawker Typhoon IB Plastic Model Kit from Academy. Conceived by Sydney Camm to supersede the Hurricane as a fighter-interceptor, the Typhoon became famous as a low level ground attack aircraft. This was thanks to it's heavy cannon armament and ability to carry up to 2000lbs of bombs or 8 rocket projectiles. The Typhoon was powered by a unique H-configured 24 cylinder Napier-Sabre engine rated at over 2,000 horsepower. Typhoons played an important role in the D-Day invasions in Normandy with their attacks on German shipping and armour.

This is a 1/72 Curtiss P-40M/N Warhawk Plastic Model Kit from Academy. The Curtiss P-40 was the only USAAF fighter available in quantity when the US entered WWII in 1941. By that time, the aircraft was almost obsolete compared to its adversaries, but soldiered on throughout the war as various improvements were made in its design. The P-40M and N variants were the last production models and were developed in an attempt to overcome some of the performance deficencies of the aircraft. The P-40N in particular underwent a major program of weight reduction, and as a result was the fastest and most agile of the P-40 series. The N-model also featured improved rear visibility through a redesigned rea
