With blistering performance, the Nissan Skyline GT-R has made a welcome come-back to the Japanese motorsports scene. The legendary Skyline GT-R was first created in 1969 as a road-going racer, and immediately won praise from motorsports enthusiasts. In May, 1989, Nissan unveiled a reincarnation of this superlative automobile, 16 years after its previous GT-R. The powerplant in this vehicle is a 2568cc, six cylinder, DOHC, 24 valve, twin ceramic turbocharged and intercooled 280 horsepower engine, which was designed from the outset for competition use. In order to effectively transmit this tremendous power to the wheels, the Skyline GT-R incorporates Nissan's original ATTESA E-TS variable torq

The Nissan Skyline GT-R (R32), released in 1989, was developed as a base machine for Group-A races. Taking full advantage of its powerful 2.6l, 6-cylinder, twin turbo engine, it was equipped with a 4WD system. Originally designated as R32, the car was termed R33 in 1995 and R34 in 1999. In October 2000, the Skyline underwent minor changes such as the addition of large rear brakes to upgrade performance further. This new evolution was called the V-spec II. The most drastic alteration was the replacement of the aluminum hood with a new carbon hood featuring a NACA duct. The carbon pattern of the hood would stand out even when painted the same color as the car body. Both inside and outside surf

Packed into the GT-R look alike body shell was Nissan's latest racing technology. Its 2568cc in-line six cylinder engine, with twin turbochargers produce an awesome 450 horsepower. The X-Trac developed sequential 6-speed gearbox efficiently transmitted this engine's awesome power to the rear wheels. The four wheel double wishbone suspension system has almost the same construction as Nissan's highly competitive Gr.C machines raced during the 1980's. The body shell was extensively modified to obtain even better aerodynamics. Additional air intakes/outlets and oversized fenders gave its massive silhouetted an even more aggressive appearance.

With a powerful-in-line six cylinder DOHC engine mounted amidships under a low and sleek body, the R380 won the 1969 Japanese Grand Prix race event and established several world speed records in the following year. The Prince company merged with Nissan, and unveiled a special 4-door sedan Skyline model during the 1968 Tokyo Motor Show. Priced at almost double that of other Skylines in the stable, it was transplanted with a de-tuned powerplant of the R380 racer's unit. This hot-blooded Skyline was launched into the market in February 1969, under the designation of GT-R. The 1,989cc DOHC 6-cylinder S20 type engine yielded 160hp of maximum output.
