On the whole Chooch makes nice loads and as a result I have several of them with differing types. In this case the tarps over the two M4 Light Sherman tanks are very well done both in detail and paint. I used these two tanks as loads on a Bachmann 52 foot flatcar in a military train. It has been my experience that some Bachmann cars do not roll very freely. This car, BAC 17303, is one of them. Loaded with the two tanks the car weighs 217g. This is very heavy by NMRA specs and consequently this car rolls as well as a brick. So I would suggest some Intermountain ball bearing wheel sets like INT 40058. They are expensive but not out of reach for most and really is a necessary upgrade. Being a very heavy train I have installed these on all the tanks and field artillery loads. Their use allows for a 20 percent increase in overall train weight allowing for more cars behind any locomotive. The problem is the third tank with the canvas-like cover which is well done too. But it is a larger tank than the M4s, which is not really a problem. The problem is it is too wide to fit any flatcar, so it is relegated to a part of a diorama or a larger scale, and mounted and secured on a pallet that hangs over the side, so that won’t even allow it to be used as a wide load. All of this has lowered the number of stars I can give it, however if someone wants to make these concessions then I can recommend the model, which is priced fairly.
