Steam Boiler Equipment Load - 40-Ton - HO-Scale

Actually there are two boilers included with some larger gears and a flywheel, the latter with red paint on the spokes. Although the load looks fine as delivered and not absolutely needed, I added a little paint because without it there is just too much silver for my taste. On the boilers I painted the air intakes black and weathered the gear teeth with a thin rust wash. The pallets are good but I painted them a darker shade for more definition against the bed of the flat car and to be more realistic. I suggest this model be loaded onto a 50 foot flat car for best effect. I use this in a small post transition era ATSF local freight, along with a Chooch rock crusher with pullies (CHO7278) on flats and Life Like large gears (LIF1513) in a 41 foot gondola. Taken together you wind up with four loaded cars that look terrific with minimum effort and moderate cost. The packaging says that this is a very limited run item and to some that might add to the desirability of this model. Either way this is a recommendable piece of art.
