I was a kid in the sixties the last time I tried paint by number. I had some art talent so relatives gave these to me as gifts. Seems I remember these kits had oil instead of acrylic paint but I could be wrong. I had not painted in some time so instead of buying a lot of pricey tubes of paint, I went with this to see if I even wanted to paint again. Everything in one kit; canvas board, brush, paints, and composition. I chose this kit because it looked challenging from the illustration and did not look like a paint by number. Do not expect your painting to look like the one on the box if you go strictly by numbers. There were no photos from users to judge this as I did see some paint by number kit photos that looked better than most. Also, be prepared to have other size and shape brushes on hand as the one provided is not adequate. Too, there are not different blue paints to do the two birds that require it, only one pale blue. I bought two other small tubes of blue for this. This kit is large so it is tedious; don't expect to finish it in two afternoons. When I saw this kit was going to look like a pure paint by number I went with my own painting skills, such as they are, to make it look better. Acrylic paints dry flat and has no shine as oils do. I coated mine with an acrylic varnish to liven it up with some shine.
