"USS Laffey completed first and used in small diorama"
mmegee616
I just finished building the waterline version of the Laffey, using Model Master Independent Blue for the hull and upperworks; used MM Blue Gray for the decks. Found this a little tougher to build since there are photo-etch parts (did not use all of them). Put the ship into a small diorama with Hasegawa's IJN Kirashima for the naval battle of Nov 13, '42 off Savo Island in which the Laffey was lost. The Kirashima was also lost during that night battle. I used canopy glue to attach the PE parts, especially for the racks holding the life rafts. I also added a torpedo being fired from the Laffey's torpedo tubes by utilizing a torpedo from the Japanese Betty bombers in the Tamiya Prince of Wales kit. Don't recommend kit for less skilled modelers or small children though.
