"Our Favorite Estes Rocket"

My family loves this rocket. It's the first one my son wants to launch when we attend club launches. We like it best when launched on an E9-8 motor. It will reach 1400 on that motor, as well as the E9-6. It also flies very well on a D12-3. You need a big area to launch this as it will drift with the wind. I'm thinking of going to a little smaller parachute to reduce the return time. I think the the fins will hold up fine on landing as long as the it is soft ground or grass.

"Guide rod lugs out of alignment"

The only problem out of the box was that the guide rod lugs were not aligned. Putting the rocket on a rod caused quite a bit of friction. The correction was simple enough. Simply cut off the upper joint containing the lug, clean out the joint and re-glue onto the tube. Use a launch rod to ensure they are aligned. The launch was quite impressive as this is a good size rocket compared to the smaller ones we have been flying, However due to a bad motor, my flight was cut short.... looking forward to rebuilding and trying again.
