"Ma.K. Kits, YES."

What can I say about Maschinen Krieger (Ma.K.) kits? If you are into sci-fi military type kits, especially Japanese sci-fi kits, then maybe consider one of these. They are produced by Hasegawa, a long-time front runner in Japanese model kit production. The individual mechs like this one tend to be relatively inexpensive overall, with some of the even more elaborate Ma.K. universe vehicles reaching sometimes up to 100 dollars or more. The kits, like this one, are nicely detailed- this one included a cockpit and hatch that can be opened. The whole series is based on a story that ran in Hobby Japan back in the 80's. It was started by local Japanese hobby enthusiasts who actively scratch built the very first Ma.K. kits in their homes and producing copies, per order, for a growing fan base. Eventually some of the creators of the Ma.K. series would become executives with major Japanese model producers, like Hasegawa, who then produced quality kits like this one. Great price, nice production, decals, very well-done instructions. One warning, I would not consider this a kit for a beginner. Not difficult really, but not a kit for a first timer. One can expect this to be more of a challenge than building a similar sized Bandai Gundam kit. The Ma.K. kits usually come with nice little bonuses like full color printed layout reference cards for painting and decal placement. I think a full history of the mech is also included there, but as I can't read the Japanese language, I can't be sure. Long story short... Want a trustworthy sci-fi mech model? Buy a Ma. K.! No foolin'!
