I have built quite a few T-34s over my lifetime. So how does this new one from Academy compare? Simply put, it is a great kit. The kit allows you to build five different versions of the T-34/76 1943 model. (I chose the 1943 Kursk version.) The only confusing part of the kit is the instructions, which list all the 5 different options, side by side. You have to read carefully and also decide what version you are going to build, before you start. Okay, the finished model looks great! And I love that the tracks are in hard plastic sections, which save a LOT of time during the build. Yeah, individual track links look good but...they take a lot of time to assemble. Okay, the ONLY thing I did not like about this kit is that the lower hull came in 3 different sections (bottom and 2 sides). This is one of my greatest pet peeves. In almost every T-34 kit I have built, the lower hull comes in one section. Why? It's much easier to assemble. With this lower hull, I was worried that, when I attached the sides to the hull bottom, one side might be off by a small amount, which can cause problems later in the build. Oh! And it did cause a problem! When I attached the rear panel to the lower hull section, there were gaps at both sides, which were easily fixed with modeling putty. But my complaints are very minor. All that matters is the finished model and, it looks great!
