Facts The Hawker Tempest was perhaps the ultimate British piston engined fighter developed during WWII. Similar in appearance to the Hawker Typhoon, the Tempest featured a much thinner laminar flow wing which gave much better overall performance. The Hawker Tempest was powered by a 2180 hp, 24 cylinder, H-configuration Napier-Sabre engine.
