1/72 B-17F Flying Fortress

This is a plastic 1/72 B-17F Flying Fortress Airplane from Academy Plastics. It's for experienced modelers.

The B-17F was developed from the B-17E, which was found to have insufficient defensive armament for daylight raids on occupied Europe. Changes included a ball turret in the belly, and a frameless nose canopy.

Detailed 1/72nd scale for static display only.
Markings included for one aircraft with unstaggered waist gun positions.
Appx. 140 parts in light grey and clear with delicate recessed panel lines - not including all the unneeded extra parts from the early
B-17 kits.
Detailed engine fronts and cowlings; correct nose and rear gun position.
Cockpit detail: floor, instrument panel with decal, seats, and controls.
Detailed bomb bay with bomb racks, bombs and positionable bomb doors.
Early production "Cheyenne" style tail gun position.
Service History: USAAF; 1941-45.
Description: Heavily armed, four-engine daylight heavy bomber.

Single sheet of decals which contains national insignia, instrument
panel, aircraft ID number and code letters, and nose art.
Kit markings are for B-17F-65-BO A/C #42-29606 "Fort Alamo II" which
flew 131 missions with the 840th BS 483rd BG.
Top surfaces: Olive Green (FS34079); Bottom Surfaces: Neutral Grey
(FS36473).
Rudder: Red (FS31136).
Additional Paints Required
Flat: Black, Interior Green, Tan, Metallic Grey, Yellow, Burnt Metal,
Grey, Aluminum, Red, Blue, Orange, Light Grey.
Gloss: Silver, White, Gun Metal.
