- This kit is based on a Pennsylvania prototype used on F22 class heavy-duty Gun Flats to move 14" naval gun barrels from the Washington Navy Yard to bases on the West Coast. The bolsters were also used to handle other long and heavy loads, such as turntables, large bridge beams and heavy structural components (such as the Structural Flat Car Load w/Blocking on a central pivot point, which allowed it to turn as the flat cars moved through curves and turnouts.
- This LASERKIT includes parts for one pair of bolsters and replicates the Pennsy prototypes faithfully. The kit utilizes a unique method of construction; all parts are laser-cut to within .0025" so they literally snap together, requiring only minimal gluing to secure them in place.
