1966 Ford Fairlane GT

I love this kit. The kit seems to have been retooled or cleaned up. No flash to speak of, just a light sanding will get it done. I really like the way the engine has been cast into components so you can use it in a diorama or build it complete. It is a very nice representation of a 390 C.I.D ford engine. The kit come with 2 transmissions os the car can be built as a GT or a GTA. The detail is excellent and the kit comes with Tampo-printed tires which is a bonus. The instructions were well done and easy to follow. My only CON in the stance was to high in the front and I caught it early enough to address it. I painted it Testors color shifting Blue with White interior. I really love how it turned out. I would recommend this kit to all builders.

Old Kit! not bad, just old, built the 427 version some 25+ years ago and still have it, the current version offers choice of automatic GTA, or standard shift GT. the body mold is getting some age on it so the script of fairlane and Ford are getting pretty thin, a decal would have been nice to compensate. as on my original I turned the front spindles upside down to get a better ride height which I wouldn't recommend if your going for the bone stock look! speaking of stock, the GT rims in the kit are not a very good likeness which I found disappointing so I ended up using some parts box U.S. mags that look decent. the interior was good with a nice factory console and buckets, would've like some gauge decals for the dash as well. also would like the windows to be one piece although they are oversized enough to make gluing easy except the rear quarter windows, if anyone can glue those in without getting glue on them I bow to you! I've left them off both of my kits. I've apparently learned things over the years like using clear paint to cement the lights, my older kit has the glued frosted look to them! overall this build into a nice model of a fairlane. Thank you to Round Two for resurrecting these old kits! we love them as before! Happy Modelling!

This kit may be built as either a GT version with a 4 speed manual transmission, or a GT/A version with a C-6 Automatic trans. The decals contain GT-GT/A rocker panel stripes in red, black and white as well as 390 engine call out for the air cleaner and the fan caution decal for the fan shroud. Included is an excellent set of pad printed white letter Firestone Wide-Oval tires. It also includes correct pedal assemblies and shift levers for each version, which is almost unheard of in the model car industry. Many kits from various manufacturers will contain a manual transmission in the kit, but the interior assembles only with a brake pedal (no clutch pedal) and an automatic transmission console and shift lever. AMT/Round2 did us right in this instance! Although this kit was originally released in 1992 and has been reproduced in several runs since, parts detail is sharp and crisp with no mold flashing whatsoever. Other than that, this model may be built only as a Factory Stock unit with no day-two or racing accessories or options. I would like to see this kit again, but with parts included to build the ultra-rare R-Code Fairlane 427. This would include a medium riser dual quad induction system, a separate hood with hood scoop, and a front bench seat. (Moebius and Model King, are you seeing this?) All in all, this kit is a winner and builds into an excellent example of a show room stock '66 Ford Fairlane GT or GT/A. Highly recommended for modelers of all skill levels.
