"Excellent first mid-power rocket!"
kgladstone (Oak Park, CA)
We purchased this as our first mid-power rocket, along with some F39-9T reload kits. This rocket is an excellent value, and flies extremely well. The exhaust baffle system removes the need for recovery wadding, and works very well -- we have never had even a tiny singe on the chute. It actually protects the chute better than recovery wadding would. The chute material opens very reliably when packed correctly. But don't get too caught up in the ease of packing this rocket -- once we were a little sloppy, and the parachute didn't open completely. Some parts of the assembly instructions were a little hard to follow and unclear. (There was one distance measurement that was clearly incorrect). This rocket takes little time to build, but does take a little experience. We built it with the recommended CA glue. We used Plastic Zap CA, which we recommend highly, and that Hobbylinc carries. We painted this rocket with Krylon, which we don't recommend, as it tends to flake, even though we did multiple coats of primer, then paint, then clear coat. Next time, we would stick to Testors Enamel. The bottom of the rocket did get a little squished on a couple harder landings, and does have a little bit of burn marks. But none of that affects its great flying. Highly recommended!
