Jack-of-all-trades launch pad
The Mantis has a screw mechanism that can adjust the angle of launch. In addition, it has four slots for different sizes of launch rod. It's good for the majority of traditional and mid-power rockets. Just know that large rockets, like Aerotech's Mirage and G-force, are too tall and heavy. A breeze can push a large rocket and possibly bend the launch rod. I'd recommend something more substantial for the big ones.
Not worth the price
I purchased this product when I started in mid-power rocketry. The launch pad I received was red plastic and for the most part it was poorly molded and did not fit together very well. After about six months of very light use the base cracked where the legs connect and the launch pad was unusable. Maybe the white plastic models are better made but I am not going to spend 70 dollars to find out.
So far, so good!
Launched a rocket from my Mantis for the first time this last weekend using the 1/4” launch rod. It was very easy to load with the drop down launch rod and the launch angle adjustment was very nice. Not sure how well some of the plastic parts will hold up, so only gave it 4 stars.
Expensive
This mantis is way to expensive for what you actually get. I could make one for less than that that works just as good.
Many happy launches!
The assembly of this launch pad was simple and fun! Now it’s time to launch some mid power rockets!
