Facts HMS Bounty, commanded by Lt William Bligh, was the scene of the most famous ship mutiny in history when the ship was taken over by her crew led by Fletcher Christian. Although the incident occurred in 1788, it has been the subject of many popular books and at least 2 movies. Ultimately, the Bounty was destroyed after the mutineers settled on Pitcairn Island in the Pacific.
