Diesel GE U30C Phase III Powered - No Decoder -- Seaboard System #7250 (gray, red, yellow) - HO-Scale |
The six-axle U30C locomotive was GEs answer to EMDs SD40. Packing 3,000-horsepower under the hood, this powerful locomotive was equally at home on heavy drag freights or in heavy unit train service. Production occurred between 1966 and 1976; the Atlas U30C is based on the more common post-1970 Phase III carbody. The Atlas model features a diecast chassis, five-pole skewed-armature motor with dual flywheels, AccuMate(R) knuckle couplers and golden-white LED's for a realistic headlight glow. Details include separately installed scale windshield wipers, metal grab irons and fine scale handrails, directional lighting, crew members and separately applied drop steps and marker light lenses. Nose headlights, snowplows, accurate Adirondack floating-bolster trucks with or without bearing caps, non-operating cab rooftop beacon and antenna details are included as appropriate for each roadname.
