Kitschy architecture and crazy colors
I needed a commercial building near a railroad/road crossing and an intersection in the 1950s San Fernando Valley. Odd (to put it politely) architectural forms and vibrant (to put it mildly) colors were starting to take hold in that time and place, in contrast to the more sedate bungalow and mission styles from the previous wave of development. Check out those Art Deco/Streamline fins on the steeple base, on the Victorian roof This kit is good raw material. Ill repaint the roof medium brown with some mottling, and adjust some details, and it will fit right in.
Not as good as I expected
This is a really nice little restaurant - the colors are terrible - which was an easy fix with some paint but I did find I had to make quite a few 'adjustments' to get the pieces to fit - also the base and middle frame were warped slightly. The holes for the drain pipes are also not in the right spots for the side roof - no matter which way you turn it. I still give this a good rating as it is a nice little building but be prepared to spend some extra time on it.
Roadside restaurant kit atles
This is another great building model by Atles. I really like all Atles models. They always look nice on your lay outs. And I always like the colors of buildings. I have lots of Atles models. On my lay outs.Atles all the way. The best
truckstop
I got this kit for a truck stop and it looks great with 1/87 trucks around it.
