The humble combination car. The combination car, or Combine for short, was an extremely versitle peice of passenger railroading equipment for any gauge; whether it be standard or narrow. This is one of my favorite types of rolling stock due to its uniqueness and charm. These cares could carry both passengers as well as luggage and goods. These cars were ideal for smaller railroads or branch lines which didn't see as much passenger traffic. They were also used in lue of a caboose for manny trains, especially narrow gauge mixed trains, and Bachmann's On30 model is an excelent example of this type of rolling stock.
The model features most, if not all, the same features as the Bachmann On30 Passenger Coach. The car has an interior and interior lighting, all metal wheels and truck side frames, and magnetic knuckle couplers.
Dimentionally speaking it is the same as the passenger car, however the front third has a luggage compartment. The car has positional side doors which can be opened or closed. The interior features seating, a comparment to represent the lavatory, a stove, and the door leading to the luggage compartment. The seating and the floor are cast as one peice of plastic, just like the regular On30 coach. The frame and roof are also the same as on the coach and observation cars.
I only have one real gripe about the car and that is the wiring leading from the trucks to the light fixtures in the combination car's interior. If the car is going through a tight S curve or reverse curve it can cause to tension and possibly derail the car. Other than that I would highly recomend this car to anyone modeling On30 narrow gauge.
