Features
- One of the finest trains serving Americas West was the legendary California Zephyr. The first leg of its 2,525-mile journey began aboard the Burlington, who handled the train from Chicago to Denver. Next, passengers rode the Rio Grande to Salt Lake City, where the train was handed off to the Western Pacific for the run to San Francisco. Careful scheduling provided passengers with breathtaking daytime views of spots like the Feather River and Rocky Mountains, while the Nevada deserts and Plains states were crossed at night. All three lines contributed stainless steel cars to the train, which were lettered for the owning railroad. In addition, the Pennsylvania contributed a sleeping car to provide a long-distance connection for travelers from the east.
- This collection of HO Scale models duplicates the famed train. Each car features plastic construction with a chrome-plated finish to simulate the stainless steel of the prototypes. The models come fully assembled with complete interior details, LED lighting, tinted windows (where applicable), working diaphragms, full electrical pick-up, and magnetic knuckle couplers.
- Observation cars will also include a working drumhead. All cars can be operated on code 70, 83 or 100 track.
- Matching diesels are available separately; please see the complete listing in the Locomotives Section.

Information
The E8's are 2250 HP passenger train locomotives manufactured by General Motors Electro Motor Division in La Grange, Illinois. Between 1949 and 1953, EMD produced 421 E8A units and 39 B units. In the E9's, they increased their horsepower to 2400. In appearance, the E8's and E9's are nearly identical. Most railroads purchasing E7's also purchased E8's. Toward the end of their service, E8's and E9's were used for commuter and even freight service.
