In 1950, Greenville Freight Car built 500 box cars for the PRR, for the most part following the 1944 AAR standard. These models of the prototype feature 6' opening doors, diagonal panel roofs and 4-3-1 Improved Dreadnaught ends. Also included are etched metal Apex roofwalk, stirrups and Ajax brakewheel; 50-ton trucks; and refined knuckle couplers.
