To start, you'll have to realize what Encore Models does. They take old kits (in this case, the sub-par Pioneer Models C-45), and jazz them up with new parts and decals. For the Expeditor, you get the PM kit, which fits poorly, has terrible clear parts, and misaligned, over-deep panel lines, and add to it a very nice vacuum-formed windscreen, nice resin seats, engines, cowlings, cargo door, and control surfaces (including dropped flaps!). The resulting mix needs a good amount of cutting, sanding, and filling, but comes out looking pretty darn good. The cockpit and engines are now nicely detailed, you can pose the control surfaces, and pose the rear cargo door open. On the negative side, the cargo area is still mostly devoid of detail, with just grooves in the floor. This is a great space for scratch-buiding or adding some spare cargo. Although there is a nice vaccuformed windscreen, you're stuck with the terrible PM rear windows. These are best replaced with some clear scrap plastic from a blister pack, or Micro-Sol Crystal Klear. The major panel lines on the fuselage also do not line up, in common with the original PM kit, so the picky among us will want to fill and rescribe. Still, this is your only option for this classic classic workhorse, and worth the effort for someone familiar with multi-media kits. Decals are decent, with an olive drab-over-neutral grey US Army scheme from 1941, and a civilian airliner in white and dark blue.
