Antar Model

I have been flying model rockets since around 1967 and always looking for cool designs. This was released not too long ago as part of Estes Signature series and it from a design by the father of model rocketry, G. Harry Stine. I read he came up with it around 1960 but this is the first time it has ever been kitted. It is somewhat retro as the fins are balsa requiring air foiling and sealing to get a smooth finish for the paint. That is mainly work but it pays off when completed. For a model rocket it is rather elaborate and there are lots of pieces to go on it which is not typical. It did include jigs to get the fins on evenly. I finished it with rattle can Krylon and Tamiya paints and there was a fair amount of masking required. The decals were very good and went on nicely. I have yet to fly it but was very happy with the results and recommend it as something different.
