This is the airbrush to have
This is the airbrush to have I can’t say enough good things about it. I had been using a NEO before I bought the c plus, I was always cleaning the tip (dry tip) with the NEO. I have had the c Plus now for about 6 months and have had dry tip only a couple of times, big difference. Also it is a much faster brush, meaning no lag time between when you press the trigger for the paint to come out of the tip, the paint cup is closer to the tip then most brushes. It may seem like a lot of money compared to other brushes but for me it is well worth it for the ease of use with this brush.
Iwata HP-C Plus 4001: Product/Performance Review
The Iwata HP-C Plus, Gravity Feed Dual Action, airbrush is the most significant purchase I have ever made to improve my plastic model airbrushing skills and capabilities. This airbrush uses the H3 head system, which incorporates a 0.3mm needle/nozzle combination. The only con to this airbrush is that it is designed to operate exclusively with the H3 head system, which is only one size (i.e. 0.3 mm). The manufacturer's optimal operating pressure rating for this airbrush is 15-25 psi. Upon receipt of this airbrush, I immediately noted its high-quality chrome plated finish and precision-made components. The paint cup has a 0.24oz/7ml volume which is excellent for painting tasks involving larger surface areas. This airbrush also comes with a precision fit paint cup cap to reduce paint spills. Included with the airbrush is a stamped metal nozzle wrench, a small tube of Iwata Lube, an Iwata sticker, a Gravity Feed Airbrush Quick Start Guide and a spray test sheet made by the airbrush that was in the box. The factory sealed airbrush box is enclosed by a cardboard sleave with the product information printed on it. The box has a blue colored foam insert with cutouts to hold the airbrush, wrench and the Iwata Lube tube in place. The High-Performance (i.e. HP Series of Iwata airbrushes are equipped with cut outs on the handle body to access the needle chucking nut for quick release action in the event of a paint clog. The end of the handle on this airbrush has a rotating preset knob to set the length of the main lever pull, which limits paint flow when necessary. I found the main lever pull/push action to be precise with no paint flow lag. To ensure best performance of this airbrush, it is highly recommended that it be maintained in a clean, lubricated condition. Although lubrication of the needle and main lever mechanism is not necessary with every use, clearing out the nozzle and removing paint residue from the needle is necessary between color changes and sometimes even during airbrush use to ensure optimal performance. When re-installing the nozzle after cleaning, use the wrench with only hand tightened pressure to avoid nozzle damage or stripping the nozzle opening threads. This airbrush has the ability to create hair thin lines up to wider band area coverage, as is useful when priming plastic models or painting them in monotone paint schemes. Professional plastic model builders often use Iwata airbrushes to complete excellent realistic multi-tone complex camouflage paint schemes on their military aircraft and armor model builds. I have also seen YouTube videos of artists using this airbrush to create amazing, detailed portrait and natural scenery paintings. If this airbrush is regularly cleaned and well maintained, it will last many years, if not the lifetime of the user. The Iwata brand is the most user respected airbrush manufacturer in the industry for good reason. I, therefore, highly recommend the Iwata HP-C Plus airbrush for hobbyists and artists of all skill levels.
