This is 2 Pairs of Kadee #148 Magne-Matic "WHISKER" Metal Couplers.

Product Features

  • The #148 coupler will work anywhere a #5 Coupler will work.
  • It's a direct replacement for most Bachmann On30 couplers and a direct replacement for any plastic Medium Centerset "clone" couplers.

The new standard in couplers

I have just gotten back into the hobby as an adult and find the Kadee whisker couplers to be the new standard of coupler performance. Kadee #5's apparently were the standard for some time but this assembly is more simple and does not have the somewhat dainty brass colored centering device. There are versions available in over and underset shanks as well.
