This 1/72 scale kit comes from a Russian model company called A-Model. The pros for this kit are as follows: The decals were quite easy to remove and apply to the kit. You have the option to use either wheels or skis and I chose the latter. My final pro for this kit is that it is such a revolutionary and historic plane that I was compelled to own and build it too.
The cons for this kit are as follows: Roughly 85-90 percent of the components don’t have any indication as to what color they should be. For example, they don’t tell you what color the skis should be. So, I first applied two coats of silver followed by one coat of light blue. The majority of the components don’t fit well at all. Assembly instructions for the machine guns and engines were almost impossible to follow. The photo-etched pieces were too small and fragile to work with effectively. The instructions also don’t even tell you what units it belonged to as all you get for decals are either numbers 2 and 4 plus the national insignias. One more thing to mention is that the KP-1 version of the aircraft probably does not exist as I could not find any information about it. So its most likely the G-1, a transport version of the TB-1.
In conclusion, I give this kit a rating of 2 stars out of 5. A-Model if you’re reading this, I hate to say but so far, this is worst aircraft I have ever built. The whole thing needs to go back to the drawing board and start over again. From the lack of unit identification to the mostly unlabeled components as what color they should be, it’s a mess.
