"Very Good Rocket"

The Icarus has become a standby for me. Flies well. My latest flight hit 1015 ft, but I'm not sure which engine I used (I think it was an Estes E12-4). Easy build, looks good, flies well. It comes with two plastic parachutes. I don't like 'em and after one flight I replaced them with a single 24 inch nylon 'chute. On a recent flight the elastic shock cord it came with broke and the two halves came down separately, the main body without any chute. But it survived just fine. I would replace that little elastic with something more substantial.

"Fraternal Twin to the QUEST Superbird"

I like long rockets, and this kit is just that. It's almost identical to the QUEST Superbird, except for the fin shape, which is the trapezoidal one taken from the QUEST Courier. The latest version of the Icarus also has a 24mm motor mount with 18mm adapter included. I made my Icarus with a small boat-tail, and mini-rail guides as well as the standard launch lug. I also bonded the fins with epoxy, since my Superbird's keep popping off on landing. You can fly it with or without the precolored (red, which is silly, since the stock decor is blue!) payload section . The kit is quite light, so you might fly it with anything from an adapted A10-3 (park flight stuff) to an F44-8 to put it out-of-sight, and just like the mythological Icarus, probably to close to the sun! ;-) Nice kit, lots of potential--hard to mess this one up. 5 stars.
