Description This is a 1/110 SR-71A Blackbird Plastic Airplane Model Kit. This Revell-Monogram SnapTite kit is for level-1 modelers, ages 8 and up.
Facts First flown in December 1964, the Lockheed SR-71A spy plane - nicknamed "Blackbird" - was the most dramatic aircraft to ever fly the skies. Designed to be the ultimate "spy-in-the-sky," it is still probably the fastest and highest flying jet plane ever built and was impossible to catch before it was retired from service in 1990. Flying at such high speeds and altitude, the pilots of the SR-71 wore protective flight suits similar to what the astronauts use.
Features 1/110 scale plastic kit is for static display.
15 detailed black parts that snap together - no glue necessary. Two-seat all weather strategic black spy plane. Electronic, optical, infra-red, and radar sensors. Design configuration is a modified, tailless delta with a blended forward wing called a chine, which acts as a fixed canard to produce lift and decrease drag at cruising speed. Wing panels have corrugated surfaces which add strength and stability. Vertical stabilizers are all-moving surfaces, more effective than conventional rudders. Ultra-sleek jet is powered by two Pratt and Whitney JT11D-20 engines. Bonus stickers are included, which can be placed anywhere on the model; decals are of the peel-and-stick variety. Also included is an "Adventures Built" collector poster. - USAF, U.S. Air Force, 17978, 978, two tiger heads, two shark mouths with eyes, two bats, two lightning bolts, and two red bird heads.
