I believe that the original kit was first released in the 50s. Though it was recently re-released, the molds have not been upgraded, and you will deal with a significant amount of flash typical of kits of that era. Please note:
- main cabin is not equipped, and no windows are provided (I scratch built these)
- the cockpit lacks cyclical and rudder. No details. Awful clear parts.
- a relatively detailed engine is provided, but while the openings are present, you will have to scratchbuild PE to make it look like the original.
- general details are typical of kits of this era....approximate. Hoist, figures, and rotor heads are awful.
There is no other choice for building an H-19 in this scale. Despite the kit's shortcomings, it was (mostly) an enjoyable project. Putty will be required, and removing the trademark notice on the right side of the fuselage is a pain.
