Description The Hawker Tempest was perhaps the ultimate British piston engined fighter developed during WWII. Similar in appearance to the Hawker Typhoon, the Tempest featured a much thinner laminar flow wing which gave much better overall performance. Tempests were used successfully during the last years of WWII as ground attack aircraft, and for intercepting the German V-1 "Buzz Bombs" which were launched against London and South-East England. The Hawker Tempest was powered by a 2180 hp, 24 cylinder, H-configuration Napier-Sabre engine
