Description Prototype Information: Avro RJ 85 (BAe 146-200) The Avro RJ 85 is a development of the Hawker Siddeley HS146 project which was begun in 1973. The aircraft is unusual for a small, short-haul commuter airliner because it is powere by four small turbofan engines mounted in pods under the wings rather than 2 larger engines. This makes the aircraft very quiet so that it is able to meet the stringent noise standards which exist at city centre airports. The RJ85 is one of a series of aircraft with different passenger seating. The RJ85 seats 85 passengers and is equivalent to the BAe146-200. Other versions are available with seating for 70 (RJ70, BAe146-100) and 100 (RJ100, BAe146-300). .
Facts Kit Features: Detailed 1/144th scale for static display - Skill Level 3 63 parts in white and clear with fine recessed panel lines Engine pods with detailed fan fronts and exhaust nozzles Detailed landing gear and wheel wells Clear windshield and wingtip lights - NOTE: the passenger cabin windows are punched out of the fuselage leaving a hole for each ****MORE**** window. But, no clear parts are included for these windows! There are therefore three options for dealing with the windows when assembling the kit: 1/ leave them as is - not very realistic; 2/ fill in the windows with putty and use aftermarket window decals; 3/ use a liquid window material such as Micro Krystal Kleer which forms a thin clear film in the window opening. There is no cockpit or cabin detail.
