The 747 was the first "widebody" airliner and, consequently, the first of the "Jumbo Jets." Today, even after the introduction of many new large passenger aircraft, the 747 maintains it's status as having the largest passenger and cargo carrying capacity. The latest version of the 747, which this 1/144th scale Revell-Germany kit represents is the 747-400in which is distinguished from earlier models by the wintip winglets, extended upper deck, and larger engine nacelles each housing a General Electric CF6-80 high-bypass ration turbofan engine of 60,000lbs thrust. This kit of the 747-400 contains markings for Lufthansa. |
