this boat is definitely colorful. What really sets it off is its action figures. You will enjoy building is one.

Initial review of the parts is excellent. The decals for the shields are ver colorful and make this Viking ship pop This will make an excellent display for our mantel. The pros are good and any cons are always overcome if you are good at improvising any obtacles.

Easy to assemble - oars are quite fragile so put on shelf where it won't get bumped. My Scandinavian husband loves it!

This was a lot of fun from start to finish. Very little flashing to deal with and easy to assemble. The quality of the end product depends heavily on painting. I looked up pics of the recovered ships at the Norwegian Museum to get an Idea of the how they must have looked in their day. I decided on a darker overall brown color with mild highlights with a black wash and brass instead of gold for the ends of the hull dirtied up with gray and black. The sail was a dirty tan fading to brown at the edges with brown crosshatching. I didn't use any decals opting for what I thought was a more realistic look for the shields which were wood with steel reinforcements. The rigging can be a challenge in that very little tension can be applied before deforming the sail or bending the masts. Once you get the hang of it it goes quickly. The longest part of the build are the oars and detailing the shields if you forgo the decals. Different shades of Vallejo 70.871 Leather Brown, 70846 Mahogany, and 70.856 Ochre Brown along with Testors Brass, Drk Tan, and Radom Tan did the job. An easy kit to assemble but a wonderful way to improve your painting skills. I say ENJOY!
